Retro trend and vintage style

Nostalgic for the old days or for a time you never knew? The Vintage style is more than ever in fashion and it's a good thing because we always bet on its return! Retro furniture is characterised by raw and aged materials such as worn leather on an armchair or a sofa with visible cracks.

We find mythical pieces such as Chesterfields and club chairs which are essential, but also furniture that we had forgotten existed such as our grandmothers' secretaries. Noble materials are honoured, leather but also rattan, the aim is to create a generous and warm interior. To achieve this, we use retro accessories with slightly rusty metal for an authentic look.

Our decorating tip for highlighting them?

If you want to take a trip back in time, you have two options: go for a total retro look or opt for a neo-vintage decoration, i.e. with a wink. If you go for the second option and decide to mix modern decoration with vintage pieces, prefer big pieces with an outdated design to take a firm stance, rather than small, timid accessories that risk looking lonely. You can choose to mix colours and patterns if the rest of your decoration is sober. On the other hand, if you decide to go for a total retro look, be careful with the combination of colours and styles, as vintage style decoration ranges from the 1920s to the 1980s, several decades are represented and the codes may be blurred. Among them the kitsch sub-trend, which should be handled sparingly to avoid errors of taste. Finally, avoid the display of knick-knacks which will give an old-fashioned and untidy look to your interior.
